Two YearsWhile Rob’s co-stars were enjoying their new found fame landing other major roles after the first ‘Twilight,’ the 26-year-old suffered from depression and thought ‘Twilight’ would be the extent of his acting career. Fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be – just ask superstar Robert Pattinson. In a very revealing interview, the actor openly talks about how he battled depression for two years after instant fame slapped him in the face with the first Twilight installment. “I went through a big time of depression between 23 and 25, I couldn’t go where I wanted to go,” the actor told the French magazine, Premiere. “I was in the tabloids every day and I didn’t have access to the roles I really wanted. I wanted more, on every level.” Twilight first opened in November 2008, and its instant success made superstars of Rob, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. But worrisome Rob, who plays vampire Edward Cullen, agonized he wouldn’t be able to land roles he really wanted. “I thought everything was going to be served on a plate, but that’s not how it works,” the actor added. “I finally realized that you needed to earn this change I so desperately wanted. That one way or another, you had to suffer to be able to make it.”
