Shahrukh Khan to get his initials copyrighted
Shahrukh Khan is all set to get is initials copyrighted. The superstar has reportedly put up an application at the Trade Mark Registry, New Delhi, for the same. This is basically to protect and increase his brand value.
So, is the Bollywood king following the footsteps of cricket’s master blaster Sachin Tandulkar? Well, earlier this year, Sachin Tendulkar, too, had trademarked his initials ‘SRT’ (Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar).
Says a source, “SRK has become bigger with every project. He has taken this decision after a lot of thought. Career wise, it is a great decision to safeguard his brand”.
Though this might be a latest trend in India, internationally, quite a few stars such as singer Jennifer Lopez and tennis player Roger Federer have copyrighted their names.
Well, SRK has mentioned industries including tobacco products, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, water, fresh fruits, vegetables, salt and spices among others in a long list, in his application, from using his name without special permission.
Meanwhile, buzz has it that Karan Johar might direct Shahrukh Khan in his next, yet again. However, it will not be a full length feature film. It is heard that, the director will collaborate with a number of filmmakers including Dibakar Banerjee, Anurag Kashyap and Zoya Akhtar and come up with several short films, putting it together as one whole film called ‘Bombay Talkies’, to mark the completion of hundred years of Indian cinema.
The film is said to be releasing around May 2013.
