Ranbir Kapoor Quits Smoking
It was because of a bet he lost, but whatever be the reason, kicking a bad habit is always good news. Ranbir Kapoor had placed a bet with his ‘Barfi’! director Anurag Basu. Apparently during the making of ‘Barfi!’, Basu was alarmed at the rate at which Ranbir smoked the cancer stick, so he kept lecturing him about the ill-effects of smoking. Tired of the nagging, on a whim Ranbir promised Basu that he will quit smoking if the film’s business surpasses the 70 crore mark. Two days back, as soon as ‘Barfi!’ crossed the 70 crore mark, Basu, who was waiting with bated breath, called up Ranbir to remind him of the bet.
Now, Ranbir had no choice but to accept defeat and as promised to Basu, he was ready to quit. Basu insisted that he do it right away and Ranbir agreed!
It was beneficial for the actor too considering that constant smoking was not only affecting his health but was landing him into legal trouble too. Just last month he was fined by a court in Udaipur for smoking in public on the sets of his film ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’.
Parents Rishi and Neetu Kapoor must be really grateful to Anurag for giving their son, ‘Barfi!’ and getting him to quit smoking.
