French award for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has reasons to celebrate. November 1 is not only her birthday which will be extra special since she is a first time mum but she will also take home the Officer Dan Ordre des Arts Et Des Lettres (Office of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the French government! It will be a big day for the actress as she will finally be there to receive it after missing out on it twice earlier.
Aishwarya will be cheered on by her entire family during the big felicitation ceremony. She is the youngest recipient of this award and will join the list of stars like Shah Rukh Khan, George Clooney and Meryl Streep who have been presented with the honour before.
Incidentally, Ash had missed out on this opportunity of accepting the second highest civilian French honour two years ago because of her father, Krishnaraj Rai’s illness. The actress had no option but to refuse the offer. She was once again supposed to receive the award sometime last year but the French Government postponed the ceremony in deference to the victims of the Mumbai blast.
However, things worked out clearly this year for the actress who is not only looking beautiful with a motherly glow but is also back in shape. A friend of the Bachchans states, “The family has decided to keep themselves free for this big day in Ash’s life where she will be felicitated in a special ceremony.”
